SID-logo-square-1024x576Safer Internet Day is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. It is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education and Webwise, and will be celebrated in Ireland on Tuesday 10th February 2015.

2015 will be the twelfth edition of the event. This year’s call to action is, “Let’s Create a Better internet Together” and the hashtags are #SID2015 and #Up2Us.

Every class in our school will do lessons on internet safety this week. An “Internet Safety Tips For Parents” booklet created by Ms. Audrey Lynch will also go home to every household.

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by Insafe in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

Safer Internet Day 2013 will be the tenth edition of the event, and will take place on Tuesday 5 February 2013. The theme for the day is ‘Online rights and responsibilities’, when we will encourage users to ‘Connect with respect’
