All the girls who attended training for the whole school year were rewarded with a medal for their hard work and dedication to the school Gaelic team at our end of year ‘Awards Ceremony’. The girls improved their skills and played some fantastic football throughout the year. However, some girls deserved special recognition and were rewarded with a trophy for their contributions.

Most improved player: Clara (Rm 14)

Player of the League: Olivia (Rm 12)

Player of the Year: Melissa (Rm 15)

Congratulations to all the members of the 2011-2012 Gaelic team!

6th class (Room 12) were members of a captivated audience who enjoyed a talk recently in the library given by Irish author, Nicola Pierce, about her book ‘The Spirit of the Titanic’. Nicola gave a fascinating talk into the research behind her book, the plot and the setting. She brought the characters to life through her storytelling and even told us that the first victim of the Titanic tragically lost his life two years before the Titanic set sail on her maiden voyage.
Many thanks to Nicola and library staff. A great afternoon was experienced by all!

The 4th class girls were very lucky on Friday 1st June as a local beekeeper Joe Crofts came to visit them. The children are learning all about the Honey Bee-a project sponsored by Boyne Valley Honey and were very excited to see a hive, photos of a queen bee, a smoker used to calm the bees down when the bee keeper needs to work at the hive, the bee keeper’s protective suit, bees wax and honey combs. The children thoroughly enjoyed this visit, they learned a lot from the first hand experience of a bee keeper and they were fascinated with the work the honey bee does. Click here to see all the photos about bees.
