The girls in Mrs.White’s and Ms. Whelan’s class were invited to attend a soup kitchen in the yard of the Drogheda Borough Council last Thursday. This was one of many events organised in the town to commemorate the Great Famine. Mary Kennedy, presenter of Nationwide, was also in attendance. Grace Callan from Mrs.White’s class read an extract from the novel Under the Hawthorn Tree by Marita Conlon-McKenna. Tune in to Nationwide on RTE1 tomorrow to see this event.
The girls in 6th class put on a show stopping performance of Grease last Tuesday 24th May. Over ninety girls from four classes took part in the show. The girls practised for a number of weeks with their drama teacher Jamie Mc Carthy and teachers Ms. Keenan, Ms Carroll, Ms. Lynch and Ms. Kilcoyne. The show featured all the unforgettable songs from the hit film including ‘You’re The One That I Want’, ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’, ‘Sandy’, ‘Greased Lightning’ and many more. The show was bursting with leather jackets, slick hairstyles, cheerleaders and even a rock ’n ’roll dance off. The show ended with all ninety students on stage singing ‘We go Together’ and a massive round of applause. Click here to see some more great photos

We were delighted to learn that our application for our third Green flag was successful! We will be awarded our Green flag for water conservation at an Awards Ceremony on May 18th in the Croke Park Convention Centre. We will hold our own flag raising ceremony at a later date. Don’t forget to check out our water saving tips from Water Week!
Today the girls in 6th class took part in a fitness challenge in conjunction with the Physiotherapy Department in Our Lady of Lourdes hospital. It moved from school to school throughout the day and the idea was to keep the relay going all over the town for the whole day. The challenge involved the girls taking part in 30 minutes of continuous exercise to promote the fact that we should do this amount of exercise everyday if we want to stay fit and healthy. The four classes helped to cheer each other on as they swapped ropes every 3 minutes and skipped for a half an hour. The challenge began at 1pm, when we took over from St Ita’s school and at 1.30pm we passed it on the Fatima to continue the relay.Click into the gallery to see more

The 3rd and 4th class pupils performed a wonderful production on Friday 23rd March for the whole school and their parents. The production under the guidance of their music teacher Broni was based on the history of music from the African Jungle to the modern sounds of Gospel to the cool melodies of Jazz! The girls in Mrs.White’s class made cars from recycled materials. The
challenge for each group was to design a car that could move when
given a gentle push. Once they succeeded in getting the wheels to
turn, they had great fun making doors, windows, number plates and
exhaust pipes. Maybe they have designed a car for the future!

A big thank you to all the girls and parents who helped out with the bag packing in Tesco on Saturday. This successful event was organised by the Parents’ Association and raised a total of €1257.80 for the school.
Keep your eye out for our spiky friend who has been spotted lately on our school grounds, but remember to keep your diatance because we don’t want to scare him. Click here to learn more about hedgehogs
